What Is Firefighter Mentoring?
The fire recruitment process can be a complicated system that can be overwhelming to understand.
The Firefighter Mentoring Service is a program designed to help candidates understand what they need to do to get hired, and how to put it into action.
Some of the areas focussed during the mentoring session are:
-Detailed run through of the multiple testing services used by fire departments
-How to pass aptitude tests/practical testing including OFAI, Gledhill Shaw, CPS/OS, FireOntario
-The different stages of departmental recruitments
-The best ways to build your resume
-How to prepare/pass the interview
The mentoring takes place over an hour long session and can either be done via Zoom or in person.
Candidates who are just getting started in the process will benefit most from the mentoring, however seasoned candidates will also walk away with valuable tips.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I meet for the mentoring?
We conduct mentoring sessions via a technology called Zoom (similar to Skype). The mentoring can also take place in person but the candidate will have to come to us.
Do I need a Zoom account to do the mock interview?
No, you don’t need an account. It’s very easy to join a Zoom meeting and we will send you a link that you will click on to join the meeting.

Yes. Tom comes well prepared to the mentoring sessions and has a planned guideline he follows to ensure the candidate goes home with all the necessary information to get started.
Are In-Person Interviews Available?
